Personal notes

This was still in the period of module writing where story was everything and player interaction and ability to alter the out come was all but removed. Your more like a passive viewer than an active member in the story. Its ok but really needs a good DM to get the best out o fit, a shame really because the basic concepts sound enough.

Value to modern players

Nod bad if you have the ability to rescue the module from its self.

N5: Under Illefarn

Setting: AD&D 1st Edition, Forgotten Realms

Characters: 4-6 of levels 0-3

Written by: Steve Perrin

Year: 1987

New spells: None

New magical items: Amulet of Ceratosaurus Summoning

New creatures: None

What you get: 48 page booklet and cover with fold-out map

Summary: This module is set in an area near Daggerford (south of Waterdeep). It includes a good description of the village and the surrounding area. The PCs are members of the local Duke's militia, and this is also how the they are involved in the different plots. This module contains three mini adventures: Lizard Raid, Caravan Duty, and Rescue Mission as well as the main adventure. It also features six pregenerated characters.

Personal notes

This is from the hazy days of TSR, modules where thin on the ground, the classics where all out of print. New modules came in two flavours.. yet another Dragonlance module (which if you hadn't got on board by now was just not worth buying) and starter fare like this. While it may help an early DM it has little to give to anyone who has actually managed to run an adventure.

Value to modern players

If you really, really can not get to grips with being a DM then this is as good a place to start as anywhere.
