Module Database, U seriesU series: Series overview: These are three early 1st Edition modules, loosely set in the Greyhawk world.
U1: Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh Setting: AD&D 1st Edition, Greyhawk Characters: 5-10 of levels 1-3 Written by: Dave J. Browne with Don Turnbull Year: 1981 New spells: None New magical items: None New creatures: None What you get: 32 page booklet and cover with fold-out map Summary: The PCs investigate an abandoned mansion on a cliff, where mysterious lights have been seen recently. Personal notes This is a UK module and it shows, we have pace and storyline in preference to bold encounters. If your not careful you can get the impression there is nothing to do. Do not be put off, get all three modules, read them all, edit it down and you have a great story based adventure to run. This one is about sneaking aboard a ship and breaking a smuggling ring. Put aside your need to fight trolls and explore massive complexes, have a crack at an early attempt to feed another urge in the AD&D player.. one of plotline. Value to modern players Get all three and run them together (after a bit of editing)
U2: Danger at Dunwater Setting: AD&D 1st Edition, Greyhawk Characters: 6-10 of levels 1-4 Written by: Dave J. Browne with Don Turnbull Year: 1984 New spells: None New magical items: None New creatures: None What you get: 32 page booklet with cover Summary: The fishing town of Saltmarsh is threatened! Lizard men are gathering forces and buying weapons! Personal notes What a scam, you get the player in and see how long it takes them to work out all is not well. I love the fact the payers can get all the way to the end before they realize they have messed up big time, awesome fun.
U3: Final Enemy Setting: AD&D 1st Edition, Greyhawk Characters: 8-12 of levels 3-5 Written by: Dave J. Browne with Don Turnbull Year: 1983 New spells: None New magical items: Staff of Shock, Wand of the Squid, Rapture Weed New creatures: None What you get: 48 page booklet and cover with fold-out map Summary: The enemies of Saltmarsh have been identified and their evil must be averted. |
